CONGRATULATIONS SCHAFER FAMILY
Please join in special congratulations to Kristian and Stephanie and the whole Schafer family on the birth of their daughter, Amelia Fern!

President's Message 1-30-17
Our Recognition meeting on Jan. 26 thanked all the sponsors and supporters of our Celtic Classic Race and Salute the Troops Concert

Without the many local businesses that support these events, Morning Star Rotary could not do what we do in our community and around the world

Special Olympics of Bethlehem is the major recipient of the proceeds from the Celtic Classic Race.  This year, they were presented with a check in the amount of $5,000

Victory House of the Lehigh Valley is the major recipient of the proceeds from the Salute the Troops Concert.  They were presented with a check in the amount of $9,500

A special thank you to our Committee Chairs Wayne Achey and Gary Hartzell, to the committee members and all of the Morning Star Rotarians who worked so hard to make these events a success!

This week, there is no morning meeting.  Our First Thursdays @ 5:30 is at The Artisan Wine and Cheese Cellar at 55 W Lehigh Street
So far, we have 4 prospective members attending.

This is a great opportunity to invite someone to enjoy a great evening of fellowship and sharing Rotary.

He has District rotary weekend plans scheduled for Feb 4 & 5 and March 10 through 20.

ROTARY DISTRICT 7430 GALA CELEBRATION
Rotary District 7430's Gala Committee for The Rotary Foundation's 100th anniversary has been busy planning an evening of dinner and dancing on Saturday, March 11, 2017, from 6 -10 p.m. at the PineCrest Country Club, 101 Country Club Drive, Lansdale, PA

In order to raise money for The Rotary Foundation, PDG & Foundation Chair, Doug Cook is organizing a live and silent auction for the event. Each club is asked to donate a themed basket with a value of $100 for the silent auction.  From our Club, Morning Star Rotary, I am asking that we put together a themed basket,  perhaps “A Morning Star Bethlehem” and include donations for items (gift certificates, tickets, Bethlehem-related items, Rotary events).  We may have to purchase some items to round out our basket so if anyone would like to make a small donation toward the basket or you would like to donate or solicit an auction item, please see President Sharon, Foundation Chair Susan or myself.

I am asking this support as a Morning Star member and in my role as District Rotary Foundation Coordinator.

All donations and baskets must be received by our February 9th meeting to ensure inclusion in the program booklet.

Registration for the event is now open through Eventbrite by clicking this LINK: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-rotary-foundation-centennial-district-7430-gala-tickets-31004943621

I’m hoping you will join Jean and I for a fun-filled evening of fellowship in celebration of 100 Years of our Rotary Foundation.

Thank you. Ron
