OCT 1 FIRST THURSDAY OUTDOORS!
President John’s Invitation to First Thursday – FACE TO FACE!!! HOPEFULLY 2ND TIME IS CHARMED!
 
For those of you that are thinking that Zoom just isn't the same as in person contact, I have good news!  Thanks to Rick Santee, our Oct. 1st First Thursday 5:30ish get together will be held outside, weather permitting, at the Moravian Advent Church parking lot located at 3730 Jacksonville Rd. next to the Bethlehem Community Center.  Masks, social distance, and bring your own everything rules will be in effect so you can safely see your friends and get some fresh air just like (almost) back in the "good old days".
 
Please join us this Thursday, October 1st, for our First Thursday Meeting - OUTDOORS at MORAVIAN ADVENT CHURCH.
 
 Hopefully we'll see you then!

MSR BOARD APPROVES $500 MATCH FOR TJ ELEMENTARY
President Oesmann announced that at the September 9, 2020 Board meeting, a motion was approved to provide up to a $500 match of funds to support the needs of Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. The school needs includes classroom supplies, protective equipment, and help for food insecure families. It was suggested members contribute money they would normally have used for a month's worth of meeting attendance or just as a donation to support this effort.
 
Send your checks payable to Morning Star Rotary to  Treasurer Jean Searfoss 1409 Bogie Avenue Wescosville, PA 18106; or press the DONATE button on the website for credit cards and designate TJ ELEMENTARY.
 
We should have exceeded $1,000 but are still hoping for more which will be very helpful to the students at TJE! Thank you all for your support.

Sep 24, 2020 DEE GOES TRAIL TO TRAIL
Deidre "Dee" Fournier gave us a heartwrenching story from Maine last Thursday September 24, 2020.
Her focus was on domestic abuse and how it can impact everyone in their lives. She took this challenge to honor her sister who was a victim of domestic violence of the worst degree.
 
We followed the amazing path of this courageous woman who hiked the American Discovery Trail, a coast to coast trail from California to Delaware. Her journey helped raise awareness about domestic abuse and deterred battered women from returning to abusive relationships.

Thank you Dee!  A positive note were the many anecdotes of the wonderful and very helpful people she met throughout her trek across America.

FLU Season 2020
IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION!!! FLU Season 2020
 
Due to changes in the Bethlehem Health Dept, the Flu Vaccine clinic will not be offered this year.  Please make arrangements to receive this vaccine at your health care provider office, area pharmacies, or other approved locations.
  • The High Dose Fluzone/quadrivalent is recommended for 65+
  • The High dose Flumist/Quadrivalent is recommended for 2-49 yrs
  • The Fluzone/Quadrivalent is recommended form 6+ months 
The Flu vaccine should be obtained before Nov 1.
 
Keep in mind that the COVID-19 pandemic will be continuing creating a double whammy flu/virus season.  BEWARE…wear a mask (correctly), hand washing, practice social distancing, and avoid crowds. Maintain a healthy lifestyle.  Personal and public health is your responsibility!
