PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Morning Star Rotarians:

As we close out the year and enter into a few festive weeks before the start of 2024, let us remember that “Service Above Self” guides us all through the year. We have an opportunity the first week of January to volunteer at Bethlehem Emergency Shelter.  If you have signed up, or if you are able to sign up for the 2024 BES Season, look for Ginny Wolkoff's email from December 15.  It provides a link for a prerequisite completion for all volunteers.  Please complete this at your earliest convenience for the 2024 Season, even if you cannot volunteer for this first Shelter opportunity.  We may look for other opportunities through the year to help.

See you Thursday for our Holiday Meeting and look forward to an active 2024 Rotary year to make a difference.

Happy Holidays!

Betty Isaacs
President

MSR COMMUNITY GRANT AWARDED

Bethlehem Morning Star Rotary Club Grants $10,000 to CAT-Coalition for Appropriate Transportation

BETHLEHEM, PA – December 14, 2023 – Bethlehem Morning Star Rotary Club proudly announces a significant contribution of $10,000 to CAT-Coalition for Appropriate Transportation (CAT). This generous grant aims to support CAT's mission of promoting sustainable and accessible transportation solutions within the community.

The Morning Star Rotary Club has a longstanding commitment to making a positive impact on the local community. Recognizing the essential work carried out by CAT, the club is thrilled to contribute to the organization's efforts in creating a more sustainable and efficient transportation system.

CAT, a prominent non-profit organization, focuses on advocating for and implementing environmentally friendly transportation solutions. The organization plays a vital role in addressing the challenges associated with transportation in our community, striving to make it more inclusive, affordable, and environmentally conscious.

The $10,000 grant from the Morning Star Rotary Club will provide CAT with additional resources to enhance its programs and initiatives. These funds will support the development and implementation of projects aimed at improving public transportation, bicycling education, and pedestrian accessibility.

Club President Betty Isaacs Presents Grant Check to CAT Leadership

The President of the Morning Star Rotary Club, Betty Isaacs, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, "We are delighted to partner with CAT-Coalition for Appropriate Transportation in their pursuit of creating a more sustainable and inclusive transportation landscape. The Morning Star Rotary Club is committed to supporting organizations that contribute to the betterment of our community, and we believe that CAT's work aligns perfectly with our values."

CAT Executive Director, Scott Slingerland, expressed gratitude for the generous grant, saying, "We are truly grateful for the Morning Star Rotary Club's support. This contribution will significantly impact our ability to advance our mission of promoting transportation solutions that are not only efficient but also mindful of the environment and community needs. Together, we can continue to make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve."

This collaboration between the Morning Star Rotary Club and CAT underscores the power of community partnerships in addressing pressing issues and fostering positive change.

MSR "BE THE GOOD" FUND 2.0
Dear Friends and Supporters,

The Women of Action team of Rotary volunteers will be returning to Kenya on our 2nd humanitarian trip January 28th for two weeks. The team will be reviewing the progress of The Rotary Foundation Global Grant at the Ngaremara Dispensary and exploring Phase II options of the project.
As part of this trip we will also be conducting additional service projects including a menstrual health project at the Ngaremara Girls Secondary School. Many of the girls that attend this school live in the area served by the dispensary. This project will begin to create an environment where girls feel supported during their menstrual cycle so they can attend classes and not miss out on their education.  The project will include both distributing sanitary pads and basic education in menstrual hygiene. We hope that you will join us in supporting this project by donating to our Be The Good Fund 2.0.   You may make a tax-deductible donation by clicking here
We are grateful for your interest and support of our work in Kenya. We plan to keep you updated via email on the continuing work of the projects. You may also follow us on Facebook @MorningStarRotary
