Sep 15 President's Message
President's Message September 15:
Our September 11 club meeting was a lively visit by our current District 7430 Governor Gary Fedorcha. Gary's theme is "Light Up Rotary Through Education" and he did a fine job of educating us - especially about our own organization. He made three main points about Rotary. First, Rotarians must identify ourselves by wearing our Rotary pins everywhere we go, announcing our projects with bigger signs, and getting the Rotary word out in our community. Second, Rotary has changed meeting attendance requirements to fifty percent of meetings and Rotarians can use their Rotary service hours as credit towards meeting attendance. Third, Rotary is encouraging clubs to find alternative ways to attract members, including satellite clubs. Gary wrapped up his presentation by lighting a candle and asking all of us to pledge to wear our pins and let people know we are proud to be Rotarians. (FYI: the attendance and the satellite club provisions are included in the revised Rotary constitution which Morning Star adopted in May, 2014.)

Governor Gary's official visit concluded with our annual Governor's visit to our Board meeting with Officers and Directors in attendance. Gary gave Morning Star a good review indicating that we have met all our reporting requirements, are properly organized and are giving great service to our community.
Our next meeting on September 18 will be "Race Bag Stuffing Day" and Jeff Kicska will have things organized for a day of bag stuffing, fellowship and breakfast cheer.
