Mrs. Andrea Richards Tonge, Principal of the Adele School for Special Children, and Ms. Dianne Joseph - Teacher Kindergarten/Beginners Class presented a very impassioned story on "Educating Special Needs Children in Antigua and Barbuda." The school teaches about 60 students per year with an age range from 5 years to 21 years of age. These are all special needs children, primarily affected with autism. The focus is on teaching real life skills. Emphasis is directed to the pace of each student as you can only imagine the challenges of working with such a broad range of ages.
