Members of Bethlehem Morning Star Rotary have contributed over $6,000 to the Foundation to date this Rotary year, exceeding $100 per capita with 25 members not yet making a contribution of record.  This should be one of the best years in our club history for Foundation giving, but we still need your help.  Whether your contribution be made by contributing $2/week, issuing a check payable to the Foundation, or signing up for automatic payment withdrawal, we need every Rotarian’s support.

In the coming weeks, we will continue to share a short description of one of Rotary Foundation’s Area of Focus in the weekly newsletter.  The six areas of focus are Peace & Conflict Resolution, Disease Prevention & Traetment, Water & Sanitation, Maternal & Child Health, Education & Literacy, and Economic & Community Development.

Disease Prevention and Treatment – Did you know that 1 billion people worldwide suffer from neglected tropical diseases?  Did you know that 4.3 million doctors, nurses, and other skilled caregivers are still needed worldwide?  Through gifts to Rotary Foundation, immunizations against these infectious diseases can be carried out.  Education and training for health workers including scholarships are sponsored.  Health programs are supported to educate people on how diseases are spread, and to promote ways to reduce the risk of transmission.  Bethlehem Morning Star worked jointly with two other clubs to receive a grant in support of the Mom n PA Dental program this year, because Rotarians contributed to Rotary Foundation.
