We had the pleasure of having Laura McHugh, Executive Producer of PBS39 as our speaker last Thursday.
  
Laura is an Emmy-award winning journalist, who  hosts and executive produces FOCUS on PBS39.  Laura has 13 years of reporting and producing experience in both commercial and public television news, including covering forest fires in Montana and tornadoes in Kansas. She happily returned to her home state of Pennsylvania to join the production team at PBS39 in 2008 as a producer. She’s also produced several PBS39 documentaries, including Wyomissing: An American Dream and The Salvation Army Legacy, which premiered in May 2016.
 
FOCUS is a locally produced program directed toward all the wonderful things taking place in the Valley.  Think of it as a ‘local, better version of 60 Minutes.’
 
PBS39 was founded in 1965 and continues to be the only major network in the Lehigh Valley. The mission is teaching people. Funding comes only partially from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania with the majority coming from community support, you and your families and affiliations. There are 10 hours of programming daily directed to children to get them fully engaged in learning.
 
Her favorite PBS shows include Downtown Abbey, Sherlock, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and Curious George, and she is proud to work for an organization that produces programming you can be proud of!

Welcome Billy Weber!
Please welcome Billy Weber as our newest Morning Star Rotary Member, joined here by his sponsor, Tom Bailey.
He is a Financial Advisor with Lincoln Investment. Billy was inducted last Thursday, and has already been helping with meeting setup!
                              
ROTARY GOLF TOURNAMENT
 
Our annual Rotary Golf Tournament, co-sponsored with the Downtown Bethlehem Rotary Club, was a rousing success On June 6 at Silver Creek Country Club! Golfers enjoyed the best weather conditions for some years. Eighty golfers enjoyed participation and helped raise funds for the BAVTS Bridges Foundation and assorted Rotary projects in both clubs. Special thanks to Co-Chairs Butch Macri and Rob Littner for once again conducting a wonderful event. (Butch wrapped up two decades of handling this event!)  Thanks go out also to all the golfers, supporters and sponsors for their support - you all helped being a gift to the community.
 
 
Rotary Foundation Annual Fund
 
“RAFFLE / LOTTERY”!!! The names of  members who gave at least $100 to the Rotary Foundation this Rotary year by May 19 are going into a hat this Thursday. (Each name only once.) At our club meeting, five names will be picked and offered 300 points each towards their Paul Harris status (whether first or multiple). If a winner does not want the points, he or she can decide what to do with them. (Give to another member, or have the club retain for use in the future.)
Remember, it's NOT about the money - it IS about the wonderful work done with the help of The Rotary Foundation!
