Addiction Advocate Bob Bedford informed the club that the Opioid Crisis is the #1 Healthcare issue facing our nation. After recovering from alcohol addiction, he returned to school to further his education so he could help others. As a State of Pennsylvania Certified Recovery Specialist, Bob has more than 16 years of experience in the treatment of addiction and relapse prevention education.

In 2015 he founded Stepping Stone Recovery Foundation with a mission to dispel the myths about addiction and recovery residences and to fight discrimination against people suffering from addiction. He is further working to neutralize the stigma that prevents families and people with addictions from seeking treatment. Our society’s treatment of addicts and their families often is a deterrent to seeking help. 6-9 month programs in a Recovery House have an 80% recover rate. The number one obstacle is the Not in My Backyard mindset of many communities.
