Happy New Year Rotarians!

I hope everyone had a healthy and safe and restful holiday. I cannot believe the Rotary year is half over! Still so much to do.

I would like to thank Mike and Terri Long for hosting a wonderful Holiday Party. We had a great turnout.

Very Important Breakfast Information

Kirkland has, unfortunately, made some drastic changes to our breakfast situation. They have increased to the weekly cost of our breakfast to $10/week. Some of you might not be aware but previously, Kirkland has charged us $8.50 for breakfast. We have charged members $10. The additional $1.50 covers the cost of guests – such as the speaker, exchange students etc… The Board will decided at the next Board meeting how the club should address this issue, either by raising the breakfast fee or by raising dues. You may certainly offer your input. Please understand that it is a little bit difficult to increase dues in the middle of the year but we will try to figure out something “fair to all concerned”.

In addition, Kirkland has increased our minimum attendance requirements to 35, from 33. So please do your best to attend meetings as we have to pay for 35 members every week.

Lots of Reminders:

January 24 is our Race Sponsorship Recognition breakfast – this is always a fun meeting

If you move, get a new phone, a new birthday (anything is possible) – don’t forget to update your profile in ClubRunner – so you don’t miss any important communications from the club, or your birthday chocolate bar!

The District Conference is coming up, the last weekend in April. More info is available on the District website

The Rotary International Conference is also coming up; it’s in Lisbon, Portugal this year. More info is available on the RI website and in your monthly Rotary magazine.

Our Exchange Student, Retief van der Lingen, is almost here!!! Please plan to spend some time with him, even if it is just to invite him over for dinner or a brunch.

If you only paid for half of your dues, the other half is now due.

Our speaker this week is Dr. Joel Rosenfeld who is the Dean of the new St. Luke’s /Temple University School of Medicine.

See you in the morning! - Sue
