Pres. Sue's Jan. 8 Message
Dear Rotarians,
Wasn’t that a great program last Thursday? Thanks to Dr. Joel Rosenfeld for bringing us up to speed on the Temple/St. Luke’s School of Medicine, the first one here in the Lehigh Valley. This week we are welcoming Janet Fricker and Liza Holzinger to give us an update on the Bethlehem Library’s “Room to Grow” project, which we have supported with our golf tournament proceeds the past two years.
BOWLING!
Please join us Sat. Jan 26th from 7-9 pm for Bowling at Hampton Lanes. Sign up sheets will be going around. I have to get a firm count to Hampton Lanes by Jan 20th so if you sign up, you are committed. Price TBD but I am trying to keep it to $20/person. And yes, we will have at least one lane with bumpers up!
POLIO ERADICATION UPDATE
Time Magazine has been running some interesting stories on the fight against polio. You can go to Time.com, or our club website, where we have created a page for the updates. The board has voted for Morning Star to contribute $1,000 to the PolioPlus campaign this year, using some of our funds from our fundraisers. Yes, we are THIS CLOSE!!! If you would like to help more, you can designate your EREY (Every Rotarian Every Year) donation to Rotary Foundation for Polio Eradication.
The 3rd Annual Yvette M. Palmer Purple Pinkie 5K Run/Walk proceeds also will go towards PolioPlus. This event is organized by the DeSales University Rotaract Club and the district, and will be held Sunday, April 21, 2013 at DeSales University. There’s a website this year, yppp5k.blogspot.com.
CLEANING OUT AT KIRKLAND
I’m not able to clean out the back area at Kirkland this week so if you were hoping to get back there to save a memento, you have a reprieve. Please organize things you want kept, and mark them with your name and the date no later than Jan. 17th.
Cheers, Susan
