Pres. Sue's Dec. 4 Message
Happy December Rotarians!
I will take 63 degrees in December any day!
So there I was on Saturday night, in the dressing room of Fruitcakes (at the unofficial grand opening night - stay-tuned for THAT GRUMPY DOLLAR!), trying to listen for my cues, frantically trying to follow my bids for the Rotoplast auction on my PHONE! Do you know how hard it is to watch an auction on a PHONE?! Very hard! The print is very tiny. I kept having to run on stage, then to the back of the house to watch my daughter in her scenes. She is very cute, by the way. Then rush back to the dressing room to help her change costume. At intermission I have to jump out of my costume and out of my wig to help the stage manager because there is a lot of props to change. Then I have to check my phone and change my bids and yell at my phone! Then more running back on stage, then more yelling at my phone and every time, I have to sign back in! Never mind I was almost out of battery!
Someone finally asked me what I was doing. I said “I am trying to win this awesome guided tour of the Capitol with Charlie Dent, even if he is with that OTHER party, and lunch at the Capitol building and it would make the PERFECT Xmas gift for family but someone keeps out bidding me. It’s for the Rotary Rotoplast Auction!” It went right down to the wire. Finally it was time for the curtain call, 5 minutes before 10! I asked the stage manager “Do you thing the Director would be mad if I took my phone out with me and was bidding during bows and while we were singing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas?” She didn’t give me a very nice look.
Suffice it to say, I didn’t win the tour. BUT, the point of the story is … there is NEVER a dull moment in Rotary!!!
And there is NEVER a dull moment this month at Morning Star.
This week we welcome our own Russ Pacala to give his re-classification talk, preceded by Jenn Sinclair of the Cancer Support Community speaking briefly on the project that Morning Star supported with a Community Development Grant.
Next week we will hear from Lorna Clause who is from Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley, and after that we have two weeks of parties! The first will be the musical holiday celebration during our regular meeting time on Dec. 20, and the other which will be our club’s Holiday Party on the evening of Friday Dec. 28 at Mike & Terri Long’s new home. Stay tuned for more details. One thing is for sure, the food will be delicious both times!!!!
