Forget

Forget the hasty, unkind word:

     Forget the slander you have heard;

Forget the quarrel and the cause;

     Forget the whole affair, because,

Forgetting is the only way.

     Forget the storm of yesterday;

Forget the knocker, and the squeak;

     Forget the bad day of the week.

Forget you're not a millionaire;

     Forget the gray streaks in your hair;

Forget to even get the blues -

     But don't forget

     To Pay Your Dues!

Feliz Dias Rotarianos,

I have been studing the pharmaceutical market in Brazil and so have been learning Portuguese on the fly. The above greeting hails from there.

I was going to write something witty about dues being due but then I thought “Why reinvent the wheel?” I simply googled “Poems about Dues” and it turns out there are many!

District Governor Tony Jannetta and Asst. DG Jean McGill will be visiting us this week. Wouldn’t it be a hoot if we all showed up in kilts? I will just throw that out there.

I know that August is a busy time for many of us as we start to get our kids ready to go back to school or off to college. Sometimes I just need to remind myself to stop and take a deep breath and look around. I think I will try to do that before September comes crashing in. I hope by now that all of the committees have had a chance to meet, or at least schedule a meeting. There is a lot going on this fall, with the Race and the Concert and District Grants due, RLI, Foundation Training, more Fellowship events.

Thanks to everyone who did get their dues in. That is a big help to Jim and our book keeping process.

Cheers, Sue
