Pres. Sue's 7/17 Message
Greetings Morning Star Rotarians,
Thanks again to Rick, John and Charlie for a terrific program on Camp Neidig last week. Every year we see a terrific group of teens and it is a wonderful reminder of the power of Rotary outside of the clubs.
I have to apologize to Wayne Achey. We were supposed to induct him as a new member last week and in my excitement of getting Rick’s complex seating chart just right, I completely forgot, even though it was written on my sheet. So we will definitely do that this week.
One of my daughters, Abby, enjoys volunteering at New Bethany with Dee so I was asking Dee if she gets inundated with fresh produce during the summer. I was surprised to learn that the summer months are some of the most difficult for food banks. So I thought well, let’s have a food drive at Rotary! From July 19th through August 2nd, please bring in some non-perishable food to the meetings and help out New Bethany Ministries.
I already have two folks coming to Rotary Leadership Institute, Saturday September 15th. I have 3 more open seats in my van. Registration is www.rlinea.com and the club will reimburse you as soon as you have completed the day. It is a dynamic day. You will learn a lot and meet lots of folks from around the district. You do not have to be on the board, to come. You just have to want to learn more about Rotary.
The Potluck Bar-b-q (aka Pool Party) at Jim Vitale’s house has been postponed a whole day, to June 29th. Thanks to all those who responded to the survey. A new sign up will be going around at the next couple of meetings – please come even if you don’t plan to swim!
Cheers, Susan
