NEWS FROM INTERNATIONAL ASSEMBLY!!!

Rotarians met the Gates Foundation Challenge to raise a $200 million match for their $355 million contribution to PolioPlus!! The total stood at $202.7 million on January 17^th. Of course, the real goal is Polio Eradication. The recent announcement that India has gone a full year without a case of polio brings the world closer. The disease still remains endemic in Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

In recognition that there is work still to do, the Gates Foundation has provided an additional $50 million to the Rotary Foundation’s PolioPlus effort. This is NOT a challenge grant, but it should inspire all Rotarians to continue to support this effort until the goal is realized.
