Multiple Paul Harris Fellow Recognition for 5 Morning Star Rotarians!

On November 20, Past District Governor Mike McCarthy and our club Foundation Chair Tom Hartzell presented recognition for third Paul Harris Fellow status to Mike Long, plus second Paul Harris Fellow status to Tom Bailey, Ron Helmuth, Dieter Bender and Chuck Uhl. Our heartfelt thanks to these members, and to all who contribute to the Foundation!

“Paul Harris Fellow” status is recognized for each cumulative $1,000 donated to The Rotary Foundation for the Annual Fund or for PolioPlus. November was Rotary’s Foundation month, and our meeting programs during the month explained how the Foundation works and described the many ways those funds are used to help people throughout the world. Global and District Grants are awarded in six areas of focus: Promoting Peace, Fighting Disease, Providing Clean Water, Saving Mothers & Children, Supporting Education and Growing Local Economies. In recent years, Bethlehem Morning Star Rotary programs have received district grants for the Hogar Crea Garden and the MOM-n-PA Dental Initiative, and we were part of the Global Grant providing Water Filters in Lima, Peru.

With Rotarians “on the ground” where funds or goods are sent, we know they get to the intended recipients. Admin costs are funded by 3 years of investment earnings, then the full donation amount is dedicated to doing good in the world.

If you have not given to the Foundation this Rotary year, we ask you to please consider giving $100 by the end of June (for Paul Harris “Sustaining” status), or any amount you can afford to help the club achieve “Every Rotarian Every Year”.
