The Rotary Foundation is the engine that drives Rotary’s international humanitarian service.  Without the Foundation, Rotary would be a very different and less powerful force for good in the world.  (Former RI President, Wilf Wilkinson).

November is Rotary Foundation month, and Rotarians are asked to contribute a minimum amount of $100 to the Foundation as part of the “Every Rotarian, Every Year” campaign.  This includes newer club members as well as club members who have previously achieved Paul Harris status ($1,000 lifetime gift).  Morning Star Rotary has 64 Paul Harris Fellows, 43 of whom are current club members.

Through gifts to Rotary Foundation, monies are made available to clubs and districts to fund grants for local projects (Hogar Crea, Freemansburg Canal Education Center) in addition to international projects (polio eradication and disaster relief to the Phillippines).

Morning Star Rotary members are asked to consider making a minimum $100 contribution to Rotary Foundation for 2013 by December 12.  There are three ways to make a contribution:

·       Check payable to “Rotary Foundation”

·       Make $2/week contributions.  There is a Rotarian on duty at the registration table that will assist you when you sign in and pay for breakfast each week.  There are about 15 Rotarians that make their contribution in this manner.

·       Rotary Direct – Contributions are deducted regularly from your credit card – monthly, quarterly, or annually.

Checks can be given to Tom Hartzell at any of the upcoming Rotary meetings.  Tom can also answer questions about the $2/week program or provide a form to sign up for automatic withdrawal.

Our club Foundation goal for 2013-14 is $5,000.  We need the help and support of all club members to meet our goal.

Additional Info on Matching Points:

At the Nov. 13 Board Meeting, the Foundation Committee's recommendation to approve matching "points" was approved. For members who have not yet achieved Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) status for $1,000 cumulative donation, the club will match their donations of up to $100 with an equal number of "points" towards PHF recognition, allowing them to reach it sooner. (Depending on the number of points available, the match may also be offered to PHF members who donate also.)
