Today we remember those who gave their all for our freedom.
Lest we take that freedom for granted, I recall the story told by a Youth Exchange host Mom. Soon after arrival from a South American country, her exchange son saw a TV show making fun of the president. He was worried that they would get in trouble for watching the show, and that those who aired it would be arrested. The USA is not perfect (no country is) – but it’s better than any other alternative of which I’m aware!
Thanks to last week’s presenter MaryAnn Przekurat of The Literacy Center. She explained how a Morning Star grant will provide books and curriculum materials for their GED and English as a Second Language programs – and how important those programs are. In addition, she is a member of the Allentown Rotary Club, and was first introduced to Rotary many years ago when she helped give polio vaccines while teaching at an international school overseas!
May 29 PROGRAM
This Thursday Kevin Moyzan of ShareCare will speak to us. Another of our Community Development Grants will help ShareCare volunteers provide caregiving assistance to the elderly or disabled at no cost in the Lehigh Valley.
In addition, we will vote on the “Final” revised club Constitution and Bylaws which were emailed last week.

- “Neidig Night” on June 16 is the closing ceremony of District 7430’s 4-day Rotary Youth Leadership Award, called Camp Neidig in honor of its founder. To see these amazing young people, please join us at Camp Manatawny for the traditional chicken dinner and an evening of celebration and recognition. - Our club Changeover Celebration the morning of June 26 will feature many Past Presidents, and promises to be great fun!

- That same evening, June 26 at 7:00 PM, Roger Whitcomb, Past District Governor of Rotary District 7430 will speak about “Seeing Ukrainian Crisis from Putin’s Perspective” in Newtown. The Program is sponsored by the United Nations Association and Rotary. For more information, please contact me.
