APR 28, 2022 ANTIGUA READING PROJECT

Dr. Debbie Matz and our very own Dr. Bill Hunter took us on their journey to Antigua. Antigua Sundown Rotary Club President Diana Brown joined us on Zoom. The Bethlehem Morning Star supported Dr. Matz and her work as a reading specialist, which will be used as a pilot program in the Antiguan primary schools. Our important partnership with the Antigua Ministry of Education, Lehigh University, the Rotary Club of Antigua Sundown and Dr. Matz proved how collective impact can change lives! The assessment of the situation and needs of the students highlighted a solid beginning strategy for the collaboration to proceed. We look forward to a successful expansion of efforts with everyone.

APR 30, 2022 ROTARY DAY OF SERVICE

One person can make a difference, but together we make a greater impact. By fostering partnerships with the Monocacy Creek Watershed Association (MCWA) and the City of Bethlehem Police Department, we created community-wide impact for the April 30th Rotary Day of Service. The MCWA reported 57 volunteers--12 of them Morning Star Rotarians--helped to clean up the trails along Monocacy Creek. Special thanks to Environmental Sustainability Chair Rick Morrisey for being instrumental in connecting us with the MCWA. Keep your eyes peeled for Bethlehem Morning Star in The Bethlehem Press! APR 30, 2022 STEM YEA Big Ticket Reverse Raffle

Many thanks to the five Rotarians (plus my husband, Bob) that represented Bethlehem Morning Star at Saturday's STEM YEA fundraiser. Did you know Bethlehem has our very own NASA astronaut teaching at Lehigh University? Dr. Terry Hart (former NASA astronaut, US Air Force fighter pilot, and telecommunications executive) laid out the history of the Space Race and what it was like for him to spend a week in space as the keynote speaker for the gala. We had a fun evening with lots of prize winning. Ask Sheila Seifert how she won $400 using the Four Way Test!!
