June 9 – So much gratitude!

Thanks to Butch Macri, all participants, sponsors and donors for the Joint Golf Tournament! Please see photos in the separate article below. We appreciate the great job done by Barb Seifert-Sigmon and the Membership Committee for conducting another warm and wonderful New Member Soiree.

Thanks to last week’s presenter, Julie Sherk of St. Luke’s University Health Network. One of our Community Development Grants will provide Vision Vouchers to 15 students in need, enabling them to get an eye exam and a pair of glasses. In addition, two representatives of Traditions of Hanover visited us in order to deliver their donation of both food and money collected from their residents and staff to benefit New Bethany Ministries. We very much enjoyed visiting with “alumni” Past DG Bill and Karen Jahn, and inducted our newest member, Kristian Schafer!

Starting to say “Thank You” for a wonderful year …

I feel so much gratitude, it can’t possibly all fit in one message! My heartfelt appreciation goes out to several special people who keep Morning Star Rotary running week after week, month after month, and even year after year! Secretary Val Walk does an exceptional job handling minutes, attendance, tracking membership, official reports/communications and more. Treasurer Sue Reeps revamped our financial reporting for the club’s operating account and charitable foundation account – both the monthly summary and the comparison to budget – greatly improving understanding by the board and club members. Sergeant-at-Arms Russ Pacala, with Tom Bailey and Robin Metzler, handle our weekly meeting logistics and finances. No matter what else is going on in their lives, these members consistently go above and beyond to make sure that Morning Star’s needs are met. THANK YOU!!!

This Thursday Josh Berk, Executive Director of the Bethlehem Area Public Library will speak to us about Bethlehem Books and Baseball for Beginners.

We will also be inducting another new member - Sharon Fontana!

Events wrapping up this Rotary year are …

“Neidig Night” on June 16 is the closing ceremony of District 7430’s 4-day Rotary Youth Leadership Award, called Camp Neidig in honor of its founder. To see these amazing young people, please join us at Camp Manatawny for the traditional chicken dinner and an evening of celebration and recognition. On June 19, our annual evening “Kickout Party” at Tom & Janet Kolepp’s will replace our morning meeting! Please see the sign-up sheet or contact Tom or Janet. Brats & hot dogs, rolls, beer & soda and desserts are provided. Attendees are asked to bring a side dish – like a summer salad or other complement to the meal.
Our Club Changeover Celebration the morning of June 26 will feature many Past Presidents, and promises to be great fun!
The District Changeover Dinner will be held the evening of June 26 at Brookside Country club in Macungie. (Our club changeover will be that morning.) For more info, please contact Tom Kolepp or me, or go to www.rotarydistrict7430.org.

As previously publicized, on June 27 Allentown Rotary will celebrate its 100^th Anniversary with a dinner at Lehigh Country Club. If you are interested in attending, please contact me.

MOM-n-PA – Registration for volunteers is now open, and non-dental people are needed! Please see the flyer in Downloads on our home page, or go to www.mom-n-pa.com for more info. We have joined with other local Rotary Clubs in applying for a District Grant to help fund this project.
