Building Stewardship & Sustainability in SouthSide Bethlehem
Thursday, July 29, 2021 Larry Eighmy, Principal of the Stone House Group (SHG) gave us an inside look at the history and renovation of the 5-story Flat Iron Building at 301 Broadway, one of the Lehigh Valley's most iconic buildings.
The Organizing Principle of SHG leading to Optimum Performance:
Organizational Mission - Student Clubs, Energy Policy, Identification of facilities needs and solutions, Building Standards.
Facilities Stewardship - LEED Buildings and Sustainable Design, Material Flows, Energy Efficiency, Building Systems.
Environmental Stewardship - Reduced CO2 & GHG Emissions, Sustainability Programs, Energy Purchasing, Endowment Investments.
Larry took us on a trip down SouthSide's memory lane through the design & creation of the Wilbur Trust Company building designed by Albert Leh 1911 - The Flatiron Building continuing to the current day! He also provided a very interesting look into what the future will bring.
