JAN 6 PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
President’s Message for January 8, 2015
“Ya'll come back now! Ya hear?”
So, why quote the tag line of “The Ballad of Jed Clampett” (the “Beverly Hillbillies” theme song) in a Rotary message? Because my eight year old self’s first crush - Elly Mae Clampett played by Donna Douglas - passed away at 81 years of age on New Years Day? Nah. Because in January 1963 “Ballad” was Flatt & Scruggs only number one country hit? Nope. Because I can still sing the whole “Ballad” by heart? No! Come on Rotarians – it’s because it’s what I want you to do.
“Ya’ll come on back to Rotary on January 8! Ya Hear?”
So, what’ll we all be doin’ at Thursday’s meetin’? Well, we’ll be getting serious listening to Dr. Deborah W. Sundlof talk to us about stress and heart disease. The first meeting of 2015 is the perfect time to reinforce all our “healthy resolutions” and hear the advice of a well-known cardiologist at LVH Network .
We want to send a special Morning Star thank you to Terri and Mike Long for hosting our Annual Holiday Party on January 3 at their home. A great time was had by all except the few Rotarians who missed the party because of the bad weather or the flu. All of the food offerings were stupendous. If you left the party hungry, it was your own fault. Thanks again to Mike and Terri and the Fellowship Committee for another great event.

BTW: What’s a Rotarian say to tell you to come back to where you are when you are leaving, and then asking if you heard her? “Ya'll come back now! Ya hear?” See you Thursday morning.
Let's continue to "Light Up Rotary". Regards. President Tom
