ISO ALL THIRD GRADERS FOR DICTIONARY PROJECT
ISO ALL THIRD GRADERS FOR DICTIONARY PROJECT
We are excited to join with Bethlehem Rotary to provide an excellent dictionary to third graders. With the addition of Morning Star funding and manpower, chair Ellen Roberts reports that the goal has been expanded to provide them to every third grader in the Bethlehem area. The experience of many US Rotary clubs is that even in this digital age, personal possession of this special book means so much to so many students. Too often, this is the only book in the house!
The dictionaries will be stamped with Rotary info, personalized with each child’s name, and handed out by one Rotarian while another tells the class about Rotary. Bethlehem and Morning Star Rotarians will help stamp the books, pack them up, and deliver them to the third grade classes.
Schools already covered are (alphabetically, of course!): Calypso, Donegan, Dual language Charter School, Fountain Hill, Freemansburg, Holy Infancy, Lincoln, Marvine, and William Penn.
In hope that Morning Star can supply resources to cover additional schools, we are researching Asa Packer, Buchanan, Clearview, Farmersville, Governor Wolf, Mill Heights, Notre Dame, Spring Garden, and Thomas Jefferson.
Not all students at schools in affluent areas are affluent, and we do not wish to stigmatize anyone by trying to give only to those “in need”. Would you please help Ellen identify any additional third graders not yet being considered? Please email info to her: editor@wherebooksbegin.com . Thank you!
