Global Grant Apporved for Peru Water Filter Project

I am very pleased to announce that on February 04, 2014, The Rotary Foundation informed us that our application for a Global Grant Application was approved. As you recall, the funds contributed by the Ambler, Morrisville-Yardley Area, Newtown, Bethlehem Morning Star and Doylestown Rotary Clubs, were matched by funds from District 7430, adding to $37,000. The total award approved by The Rotary Foundation is for $42,442. The difference is made up by contributions from the Lima Sunrise Club in Lima, Peru and by District 4450, also in Peru. This Global Grant is recorded by The Rotary Foundation as GG 1414616.

In order to comply with The Rotary Foundation sustainability requirements, the Lima Sunrise Rotary Club has had to contract the services of a NGO, (Non Governmental Organization), which for a period of 3 years will carry out the work of  interviewing and training the families receiving the filters on aspects of hygiene, and will keep records of the effectiveness of the disease prevention in these families. The cost of this service, is in the order of $9,500 over the 3-year period.

At the present time, the Lima Sunrise Rotary Club is proceeding with the steps indicated by The Rotary Foundation to proceed with the disbursement of funds.
