FEB 24 PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
President’s Message for February 26, 2015
At our February 19 meeting, Dara Rees and Dr. Jeffrey Zlotnick from Patient First compared and contrasted the treatments and expected service levels at primary care doctors’ offices, emergency rooms, and neighborhood medical / urgent care centers. Dara works on the Patient First regional marketing team and is responsible for educating the marketplace on the advantages of neighborhood medical centers which include: no appointments needed; physician always on duty; lower costs; and generally shorter wait times than the emergency room. Dr. Z is the Medical Director of the newest Patient First in the Lehigh Valley – located at the corner of Schoenersville Road and Jacksonville Road in Hanover Township. He is responsible for the actual medical treatment delivery. Dr. Z shared some good stories and reminded us of the emergency room rule - “the sickest is the quickest” – which created the market niche his clinic is appealing to.
An unscheduled meeting highlight was Barbara Seifert-Sigmon’s surprise reunion with District 7470 Assistant Governor Rodney Seifert from Rockaway, New Jersey. Barb and Rod were high school classmates and bandmates in the woodwinds section. Rodney is also a golfing friend of Gary Hartney’s and was his meeting guest.
Please attend our February 26 meeting when Delia Chatlani of LUAG Lehigh University Art Galleries presents a program on “Accessible Art”. This is another in our program series from our Community Development Grant recipients.
Membership Reminder: We need everyone’s help to recruit new members. Invite someone who you feel would be a great Rotarian to a February meeting. Good news – frequent recent guest Bill Hunter will be rejoining in March.
“Every Member Every Year”: The Board requests 100% Rotarian participation in donations of any amount to the Foundation. Please contribute soon or talk to Foundation Chair Tom Hartzell with any questions.
