District Conference Celebrated Rotary!

Eight Morning Star members joined with 200+ other Rotarians at Bushkill Falls to celebrate the year’s accomplishments, learn more about many great programs, and meet new friends.

Friday featured a warm welcome and speakers on Rotaplast, Polio Eradication, Shelterbox and the Friendship Exchange from Turkey. As “International Night,” many wore ethnic attire, and DG Frank Romano and his wife Jean appeared in Roman togas! Our club table at the House of Friendship showcased many events and garnered considerable interest.

Saturday’s daytime speakers described a variety of local and global projects supported by clubs in the district, plus the extremely impressive Four Way Test Speech Contest Finals.

After there was some time to enjoy exploring the Bushkill Falls.

At the Saturday evening Kentucky Derby Party, our club’s hat (created by our own southern belle, Janet Sipple) was much admired….and was so big it was almost assigned its own zip code! Young people, the future of Rotary and our world, were the theme of the night – from Youth Exchange, Rotaract and Interact to Camp Neidig ... presented by our own Charlie Incalcaterra.

On Sunday morning, recognition, memories of this event and a preview of next year’s conference wrapped up the proceedings. Harleysville Rotary hosted a fun, informative and inspirational weekend. We not only heard about Rotary, we FELT IT! The eight of us thank Morning Star for subsidizing our attendance, and hope you may consider a trip to Gettysburg on April 24 – 26, 2015.
