Budweiser Clydesdales

June 25, 2024 – The York East Rotary club had their weekly breakfast meeting at Flinchbaugh's Orchard and Farm located in Hellam, PA.  In a partnership with Brewery Products, the Budweiser Clydesdales horses are stabled at Flinchbaugh’s Orchards & Farm Market, where the community can see them during public viewing hours. The last time they were here in 2022 was the first time at Flinchbaugh's. Dave Thomas, manager of the northeast team, has spent 20 years as a handler with the Budweiser Clydesdales and travels all over the northeast with the team. "It's been pretty amazing, I've been able to meet a lot of fantastic people from all over the country and travel with my big four-legged friends here," Thomas said. These horses are cared for every day by a team of seven handlers. "We spend usually about 10 to 12 hours a day with the horses, and we get up early, we feed them, get them some exercise, and they get groomed every day," Thomas said. Thomas told us these beautiful creatures eat quite a bit as, "they'll eat about 40 to 50 pounds of Timothy Hay every day and up to about 10 pounds of grain, and drink 30 gallons of water on a nice, warm day."
