York Symphony Orchestra
On May 1, 2018, Michael Reichman, the General Manager and COO of the York Symphony Orchestra spoke to the Rotary Club of York-East about his role in the operation of the Orchestra. He gave a brief history of the Orchestra and discussed the improvements made under the leadership of the current director, Lawrence Golan.
Maestro Golan has brought a breath of fresh air to the music scene of York County with his approach to classical music. For the past four years, the Symphony has adopted the approach of a theme to establish the menu of music available to symphony-goers. In 2014-15 the theme was “New Beginnings”. In 2015-16 it was “In Nature’s Realm”. In 2016-17 it was “A Musical Journey Through Time”. In 2017-18 it was “World Tour: A Musical Voyage Around the Globe” and in 2018-19 it will be “Heroes!”
For a small city, York has an astonishingly good orchestra. Mr. Reichman encouraged all of us to take advantage of it.
