July 8, 2025 - Members of the York East Rotary Club were treated to an informative and forward-looking presentation on York County's economic growth and revitalization efforts during their weekly breakfast meeting. Guest speakers Sarah O’Brien, Director of Downtown Inc, and Kim Hogeman, Director of Strategic Development & Financing with the York County Economic Alliance (YCEA), delivered a joint presentation titled “York County Strategic Development Update.” O’Brien provided insights into the ongoing efforts to enhance Downtown York, highlighting initiatives to attract new businesses, improve public spaces, and support local entrepreneurs. She emphasized the growing vitality of the central business district, noting the success of recent events, investment in downtown infrastructure, and collaborations that are helping to create a more walkable and vibrant community. “We’re focused on building a downtown that’s not only beautiful and historic, but also economically strong and inclusive,” said O’Brien. “Partnerships with organizations like the Rotary Club are critical to that vision.” Hogeman followed with an update on countywide development and financing strategies coordinated by YCEA. She detailed major projects aimed at workforce development, public-private investment opportunities, and site-readiness initiatives to help attract new employers to the region. “York County is uniquely positioned for growth, and we’re working every day to ensure we’re not only ready for that growth but directing it in ways that benefit all residents,” said Hogeman. “Strategic planning, responsible investment, and community engagement are at the heart of our work.” Club members engaged the presenters with questions about future transportation improvements, housing development, and how local organizations and individuals can support the county’s development goals. The presentation underscored the shared commitment among business, civic, and nonprofit leaders to keep York County moving forward as a destination for living, working, and investing.
