 To View meeting: https://youtu.be/Uy7xRuYflqA August 12, 2025 - At a recent meeting of the York East Rotary Club, members were treated to an engaging presentation by Lisa Barshinger of the White Rose Leadership Institute, who traced the organization’s roots back to the vision of well-known York philanthropist Bob Pullo. Barshinger explained that the Institute began as an outgrowth of York Fellows, a leadership and community engagement program founded by Pullo to cultivate leaders committed to service in York County. Over the years, York Fellows evolved, broadening its mission and eventually becoming the White Rose Leadership Institute. Today, the Institute serves as a hub for community connection and innovation. Its most recognized initiative is Give Local York, the county’s annual 24-hour online giving day, which has become a philanthropic tradition. Barshinger shared that the event has grown exponentially since its launch, rallying thousands of donors and generating millions of dollars for hundreds of local nonprofits. “Give Local York is about more than just raising money—it’s about raising awareness,” Barshinger told the audience. “It’s a celebration of the generosity and community spirit that makes York County unique.” She also discussed the Institute’s ongoing efforts to support nonprofit organizations year-round through leadership development, capacity building, and networking opportunities. |
