Six Outstanding Students of the Month

The York East Rotary Club recently hosted six exceptional “Students of the Month” from three area schools—York Catholic High School, York Suburban High School, and York County School of Technology. Each student was recognized for their academic excellence, leadership, and community involvement. The Rotary Club annually awards a scholarship to exemplary senior students and sponsors junior students to attend Messiah University’s summer leadership camp—part of its ongoing mission to foster education and leadership among young people in York County.
Representing York Catholic High School, senior Arianna Smock and junior Maura Hoffman addressed the club, sharing how their Christian faith has influenced their education and future aspirations. Arianna, who hopes to become a civil engineer, spoke about how her faith motivates her to approach problem-solving with integrity and compassion. Maura, who has a passion for criminal profiling and criminal justice, reflected on how her beliefs guide her sense of purpose and justice. Their inspiring presentations highlighted the importance of faith in shaping both academic and personal growth.
From York Suburban High School, senior Michael Foremsky and junior Eden Gracey impressed club members with their dedication and accomplishments. Michael, who serves as Class President and excels in both art and swimming, plans to pursue a degree in engineering at a four-year university. Eden, recognized for her strong academic performance and multiple math awards, has consistently made the honor roll each semester.
The York County School of Technology was represented by senior James Stachowski and junior Eva Wang, who shared heartfelt reflections about their education and families. James spoke about his father’s perseverance in earning a college degree later in life—a story that inspired him to pursue a degree in computer security and graduate debt-free. Eva shared her enthusiasm for theater, drama club, and all things Harry Potter, and plans to study nursing with a focus on emergency medicine.
Rotary members praised the students for their eloquence, maturity, and strong sense of purpose. Club President Kris Pollick commented, “These students exemplify the kind of character and leadership we hope to support through our scholarship program. Their drive and commitment to making a difference in their communities are truly inspiring.”
