A 'Royal' Redevelopment

On 9/12/17  owners and founders of the Royal Square Development and Construction Company,  Josh Hankey and Z. Dylan Bauer, spoke of the revitalization of downtown York in the Royal Square District.  The Royal Square District is located

a block behind city hall and lies within the royal intersecting blocks of York consisting of Duke, Queen, Princess and King Sts.  Inspired by the re-development of  Baltimore, these 2 entrepreneurs began to buy up properties in this area and rehabilitate and give facelifts to the real estate.  These renovations have given new personality to the area through non-profits such as the Parliament Arts Organization that provided gallery space and opportunity for artists to move into the neighborhood.  Working with grants from Louis Appell and with the York City Redevelopment Authority, it has been possible to establish 25 new businesses in the Royal Square area.  For example, the Bond Building is now the sight for weddings, various events and a micro-brewery.    Oher renovated sights on West Market Street include the Weinbroom and Zakies Buildings..  It's truly a majestic and royal redevelopment  with wonderful galleries and finely curated shops.  Go downtown and experience the change!
