Pennsylvania Gaming Commission: Mini Casino Concept
On Tuesday, April 10, Doug Harbach, the Communications Director of the Pennsylvania Gaming Commission, spoke to the members of the Rotary Club of York-East about the concept of satellite casinos, sometimes called mini-casinos. The new concept of satellite casinos is to locate small casinos in less populated areas and outside of the 25 mile radius exclusion zone of the current casinos. One of the new satellite casino zones is centered on Yoe. So, the York area will soon be home to a satellite casino. The Pennsylvania Gaming Commission is entirely funded by the casino industry; no taxpayer funds are used for its operation. The taxes resulting from gaming operations (34% of total) in the State contributed $931 million dollars in fiscal 2016-17.
