The East York Rotary Club welcomed District 7390 Governor Mary Burnski to its Tuesday breakfast meeting on September 9, 2025.The Governor shared her personal story, professional journey, and passion for Rotary with club members. Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, Mary later moved with her mother to Ohio, where she graduated from high school before attending The Ohio State University. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications and Economics and went on to work in Dallas, Texas, with her husband Paul. Much of her early career focused on marketing for architectural, engineering, and construction companies. The couple later returned to Pennsylvania to be closer to family, raising their two children here. Mary joined Rotary in 2013 and quickly embraced its mission of service. Since moving to Carlisle, she has been an active community leader, volunteering and serving on the boards of the Amelia S. Givin Library, the Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation, and the American Association of University Women. She also served as an Assistant Leader for a Girl Scout troop, helping four girls achieve the Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouting.

Reflecting on her Rotary journey, Mary emphasized the power of community, character, and service.  Governor Burnski’s visit was an inspiring reminder of the Rotary spirit and the impact of leadership grounded in service.
