October 28, 2025 - At a recent weekly breakfast meeting, the Rotary Club of York East welcomed Christine Wilt, Development Coordinator for The Arc of York and Adams Counties, as guest speaker. Christine shared the organization’s mission of supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them live meaningful and fulfilling lives as active members of the community. Wilt explained that The Arc provides a wide range of programs and services designed to promote inclusion, independence, and personal growth. Among the key programs she highlighted were:
Penn Employment Services, which connects individuals with job opportunities and helps them develop the skills needed to succeed in the workplace.
After School Options, offering safe, engaging, and educational environments for youth with disabilities.
Camp Pennwood, a beloved summer camp experience where participants can build friendships, confidence, and independence.
Pennwood Adult Vacation Experience (P.A.V.E.), providing adults with disabilities a chance to enjoy recreational and social experiences in a supportive setting.
Agency With Choice, empowering families to have a direct role in selecting and managing support services for their loved ones.
Advocacy and Community Violence Intervention, both aimed at ensuring that individuals with disabilities are protected, respected, and given equal opportunities within the community.
Wilt also spoke about The Arc’s annual Arc Ball, the organization’s signature fundraising event. The long-running community celebration raises vital funds to sustain these programs and builds awareness for The Arc’s mission. Rotary members expressed appreciation for The Arc’s decades of service and dedication to improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities in York and Adams Counties.
