May 27, 2025 - The York East Rotary Club announced the recipients of its annual grant awards totaling $7,500 at its recent ceremony, continuing its tradition of supporting critical community programs. This year's beneficiaries included Glen Hope Farms, Pappus House, Friends and Neighbors, and Catholic Harvest Food Pantry, with each organization expressing their gratitude and outlining plans for utilizing the funds to further their important missions. During the award ceremony, representatives from the selected organizations spoke passionately about how the Rotary Club’s generosity would be used to benefit veterans and advance health education within the community.
  • Glen Hope Care Farm was granted a portion with a district match of the funds to help construct a learning center.  The learning center will be used for activities including horticulture, animal husbandry, agricultural classes and special events
  • Catholic Harvest Food Pantry, an organization committed to providing food to those in need in York County. This initiative will be used to purchase a new refrigerator for overflow product.
  • Pappus House, a community organization providing round the clock care exclusively to people in their last months of life. The funds will be used for program improvement.
  • Friends and Neighbors, known for its work with homeless, received a portion of the grant to maintain its shelter services. These funds will help provide services and housing for those facing homelessness, with the ultimate goal of helping them find permanent housing
Speaking at the ceremony, the president, Greg Kern, shared the importance of continuing the club’s mission of "service above self" and the pivotal role that these grants play in making a lasting impact on the community.
