A Special Message from
President Matt Staub
Dear Members of the Rotary Club of Harrisburg,
As we head into a new Rotary year, every member of our club should be proud of the job done over the past 12+ months. In an extraordinarily difficult and uncertain time, our club forged ahead and continued making a difference in the lives of Harrisburg’s children, in our schools, and in the community at large.
Beginning on July 12th, the Rotary Club of Harrisburg will resume in-person meetings for the first time since March 16th, 2020. While this will be a joyous occasion, it will certainly be bittersweet for some. Every member of our club has witnessed the toll of the pandemic not just in our community and country, but throughout the world. Many members, however, have felt the effects more closely – losing family, friends, or close colleagues.
The pandemic is not over, and the sting will linger for some time. While change is inevitable, our club’s leadership believes it is important to bring our club back. This not a decision that was made quickly, or without consideration for any associated risks. No doubt, our members have questions regarding what these meeting will look like as we resume, and as the incoming President I want to make sure each member knows what to expect so they can make a prudent decision whether attending in person is the right call. Attached you will find a summary of key changes by both the Hilton and our club to ensure that every member who chooses to attend has a safe, comfortable Rotary experience.
Whether you plan to attend our meetings in person or through our enhanced virtual option, I am excited for our club and the year that lies ahead. As we get the Rotary wheel turning once more, I leave you with a quote from Martin Luther King, Jr:
“If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward”.
Yours in Rotary,
Matt Staub
