📢 Spotlight: Youth Community Development Team (YCDT)

🤝 Created in 2004 by Rotary Club of Harrisburg in partnership with:
Leadership Harrisburg Area • The Foundation for Enhancing Communities • The Patriot News • United Way of the Capital Region • Dedicated Volunteers

🎓 About YCDT:

• 🏫 Serves: Harrisburg SD, Steelton-Highspire SD, Bishop McDevitt HS
• 👥 30 students selected annually for a 9-month leadership & community development program
• 🌍 Focus: Confidence building, leadership skills, cultural understanding, and community impact

🎯 Program Objectives:

1. 📍 Increase awareness of local resources & the greater Harrisburg community
2. 🗣 Develop oral communication & presentation skills
3. 🤝 Strengthen collaboration, negotiation, and persuasive skills
4. 💡 Provide a platform for community service and measurable impact

🔍 REAL Experience:
Students identify a community need, raise funds, and partner with local organizations to deliver grants & service hours.
Past partners include: Thrive Housing Services, Beautify the Burg, The Silence of Mary, Drug Free PA, The Joshua Group, Channels Food Rescue, Bridge of Hope
💵 Average Impact: $5,000 raised annually for community projects

🌟 Legacy:
Graduates are encouraged to continue volunteerism and civic engagement beyond the program.
