Dear fellow Rotarians!

As you know, one of my goals for this Rotary year is to work with people suffering from substance use disorder, and work with FAN - Families Against Narcotics - to make that happen.

Last night during a Rotary/Fan meeting, I learned that the Covid pandemic has impacted and exacerbated the opiate epidemic--relapses and overdoses are surging(deaths are projected to have a large increase over last year). This is because of the social isolation, unemployment, reductions in treatment and testing, and overall general anxiety. We also learned that the Covid 19 crisis has significantly reduced fundraising opportunities for organizations like FAN(and Rotary), even when the need for these groups to help their communities is increasing.

As usual, in a time of crisis, Rotarians said they would help. We agreed to support FAN's $1 dollar a person fundraiser-with its million dollar goal! Below is the link to make a donation. Access and information will be available on social media, with payment options. Most times, everything will link back to the info below--it then goes to Givebutter, where payment is made. It is as simple as anything I have seen or used.

But it is not just about donating a dollar. PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. And share a note as to why you gave. We can do this.  If you don't use social media, please just forward this email to your email contacts.

FAN Friends & Family...

Will You Give $1 and Share This to Give Someone Hope?

Since Families Against Narcotics was founded in 2007, we have helped thousands of people whose lives have been impacted by addiction. Whether it’s an individual with a substance use disorder (SUD) who is ready for help, or a family member who is desperate to know how best to support their loved one who is struggling with this insidious disease, we have been there for them with our compassion and services. Our programs range from monthly FAN Forum meetings to our Hope Not Handcuffs initiative, from naloxone training to peer and family recovery coaching, and from sober living scholarships to our Stronger Together family and friends support group.

And the cost of those services to anyone who needs them? $0.
That’s right. Nothing. Because all of our programs are available to the public free of charge. Which is why we need your assistance.
We’re launching this campaign to help keep the funding for our programs alive, so we can continue to be the go-to organization for people affected by addiction. And while we are asking you to donate to FAN, we are not asking for you to open your virtual wallet or checkbook very wide. Just a tiny bit. In fact, you might even have what we’re asking for in your pocket right now. Or rattling around in your car’s cup holder. Because all we’re requesting from you is $1.00.

Will you donate $1.00 to FAN as an investment in the futures of the thousands of people we help? And share this fundraising campaign with others so we can have it spread far and wide?

Our goal of $1 million may seem lofty, but we know that with your help we can make it happen!

Be one in a million.
