Our Rotary District was founded in 1915 (ten years after the founding of Rotary). Since its inception as District 9, it has had eight numeric designations. The most recent change came in 1991 when we switched from District 640 to District 6400.
Rick Caron is the 102nd Governor of our District. Governor Caron is the 26th governor of District 6400.
Two of our governors have gone on to become RI Presidents:
Dick Hedke (Detroit) 1946-47
Hugh Archer (Dearborn) 1989-90
Nine of our District 6400 Governors have served as RI Directors. Past District Governor Jennifer Jones was most recently Vice President and a Director of Rotary International.
Although several Monroe Rotarians have served as Assistant Governors, our own Tom Allen is currently an Assistant Governor; only one has become a District Governor, Steve Boyan, who served as Governor in the Rotary year 1966-67.
