An Historic Event:  The inaugural superintendent of America's newest National Park - Monroe's own River Raisin National Battlefield Park - spoke at the March 22 meeting.

 
Jean Guyor introduced Scott Bentley, the Superintendent of the River Raisin National Battlefield Park.  He shared his varied experience while serving with the National Park Service and gave a background on the River Raisin National Battlefield Park.  Future plans include preserving the site and restoring the cultural landscape.  He noted that there are nine archeological assessments that can be used as an investigative tool to unfold the history of the battle.
