New Community College Welding Center Program Explained January 19

One of a handful of institutions in the nation to receive a federal Accelerated Training Program Grant for welding education, Monroe County Community College launches a new Welding Center of Expertise.
At the regular Rotary meeting of January 19, 2010, officials from Monroe County Community College (MCCC) presented a program highlighting a new workforce training program.
The MCCC Welding Center of Expertise offers a 10-week welding certification program. Intensive classroom education and hands-on real-world experiences are part of this course which will meet every day of the week from noon to 5 PM, for a total of 250 contact hours.
The program is available to qualified students at no cost through a Federal grant, and can lead to American Welding Society certifications.
MCCC is one of very few institutions to be awarded this Community Based Job Training Grant.
