On Tuesday, June 21^st, at 6:00PM, the satellite Rotarians will again hold an evening meeting at the Old Tyme Italian Restaurant on Boston Street in West Lynn.   The meeting starts at 6:00 PM and will offer an exciting presentation for the evening. Students from the Living in Two Worlds Club at Classical High School have been invited to come and show their videos which chronicle their struggles and what they had to overcome in order to come to the United States.  The evening meeting is open to all Lynn Rotarians and their guests and typically includes a $10 donation per person to buy hors d'oeuvres during the evening. This meeting instead will feature a spaghetti and meatball dinner for both Rotarians and the invited students, the cost of which will be divided up evenly by the Rotarians in attendance. A story about the videos of the Classical High students were recently featured in the Lynn Item,  with a particular mention of one student whose life was affected directly by ISIS in Iraq.  The meeting promises to be an interesting and memorable one.  The videos recently presented by the English HS Living in Two Worlds Club were very interesting to club members.
 

On June 30th, the District is holding an Installation Dinner for all incoming Club Presidents.  The event, to be held at the Danversport Yacht Club, promises to be a great event.  The event information is enclosed, as well as the link which can be used to register.  All Lynn Rotarians are urged to support President Ray in his second year as president and thank him for the great job he is doing.  The attached picture shows President Ray in action last year, dressed for "service above self".

The Lynn Rotary Club recently listened to a presentation from English High School immigrant  students who were part of a school club called Living in two Worlds.  The presentation consisted of short films by each student which chronicled the trials of each student in their homeland and the difficulty making it in the United States. The powerful and emotional stories of each student told of what they had to overcome in their lives to become students in English High. The students were from all over the world and were new to the United States but the club provided a safe haven for each student where they could make friends and share similar experiences. Club members were moved by these student presentations and were proud to know that the city schools offered such support for these students from all over the world.
 

The Lynn Rotary Club had a limited presence at the Relay for Life recently. The hot dog sale was cancelled due to the weather but President Ray and Vice President Steve were in attendance and other Rotarians dropped down to visit and contribute. Brisk winds almost took the tent into the water but as the afternoon progressed better weather settled in to allow the crowds to build. There were performances by the Lynn School Jazz Band, dancers from local dance studios, and continuous music during the event.  Of course, the survivors walk and the walk to remember all those who fought the desease was very moving.  A number of groups were in attendance, often with tents set up and items for sale, proceeds of which were donated to the American Cancer Society.  Special thanks to those Lynn Rotarians who were able to attend or to contribute, and better weather is hoped for next year.
