On February 6, 2020 Lynn real estate developer Patrick McGrath spoke at the Rotary Club of Lynn at its weekly luncheon at the Old Tyme restaurant on Boston Street, Lynn.

Mister McGrath shared with the Club that he grew-up in Lynn in the West Lynn area, not far from where the Old Tyme is located.  At one time he did move out of Lynn, but he missed the city of his roots and moved back.  He got his start in Lynn real estate when he purchased a three-family house in 1973.

He also shared with the Club that he is in the process of finalizing plans for a development with 80 one-bedroom units on Blossom Street in Lynn.  The units will be sold as condominiums at market rates.  Originally his plans were to build a structure containing self-storage units, but after discussions with Mayor McGee, and others, he decided to switch to condominiums to help with the shortage of housing in Lynn.  Also the construction of a self-storage facility was not in line with the vision for the waterfront area.

Pat McGrath is the gentleman that purchased the Porthole Pub on the Lynnway, and plans on constructing an 8 story building containing 74 condominium units, a mix of one and two bedroom units.  Most, if not all, of the units will have some water views, and some will have a view of the Boston Skyline and the spectacular sunsets which are common along the waterfront.  Some of the others will have a view of the sunrise over Swampscott and Marblehead.  Once spring comes, and the large boats are removed from the Lynn Yacht Club which abuts his property, he will continue with the demolition of the former restaurant.

The Blossom Street project is expected to be completed around the spring of 2021.  The Porthole project is anticipating an opening around the fall of 2022, subject to various regulatory permits.
