On October 24th 2020 several Lynn Rotarians picked-up trash at the playground area of Barry Park. It really needed a sprucing up after a Covid summer. In addition to the playground we cleaned-up the immediate area, which includes two tennis/basketball courts, the walking path to the park, and the parking lot near the Old-Tyme Italian Cuisine.

Since the Club has not been able to provide Service above Self too often during this Covid-19 period, the playground clean-up was a good way to give back to the community.
The Rotarians who participated were: Rev. Bill Simpson; Paul Price; Ray and Mackie Bastarache; Dick Ruth; Bill Reilly; Steve Upton; Brenda and Reggie Peral; and Kathy Gupta. Non-Rotarians giving assistance and support were: Peg Simpson; Connie Price, Kevin Price, Diane Reilly; and cute Amelia Peral.
A note of interest about Reverend Bill Simpson; in 1952 he received a Rotary Club Foundation Scholarship to attend the University of Edinburgh for a full year. Upon returning home, he spoke at many Rotarian Clubs speaking about his experiences. In 1983 he joined the Lynn Club bringing a continuous spirit of helping others. At 92, he truly continues to live the motto of Service above Self!
The several pictures below show the teams hard at work; they accumulated 11 construction size trash bags, in addition to filling two existing trash barrels at the park.
