Dr. Denise Hammon addresses Lynn Rotary
Dr. Denise Hammon talks about Marian Court College
Besides the factual information about the school, members were most interested in the mission of the school and how it's mission evolved from it's roots as a school founded by the Sisters of Mercy. Dr. Hammon explained that the school focuses on teaching, not research, thus helping them to keep tuition very affordable. A large percentage of their students receive some kind of financial aid.
The college has tried to remove as many barriers as possible so that students would not be hindered from attending college. As an example, food service has recently been instituted in this commuter college, so that students could eat on campus rather than have to travel. Members were interested to learn about the mission of the school and to see how closely the concept of service to the students was so similar to our motto of "service above self".
