Donations Wanted

The Program Committee, in response to the recent club assembly concerning membership efforts, is trying to work out the details of an after-hours networking event with the Chamber of Commerce. President Wendy is going to work with our contacts in the club and in the Chamber in order to get the plan together. It was decided that, at that networking event, our club would sponsor some raffles. The proceeds of the raffles would be set aside for participation by our club, in concert with other community groups (Reverend Bill will try to set that up), in the program called "Feed the Poor".

Our club had a presentation by that organization a few years ago and it was a wonderful opportunity to provide service in this world. For the cost of $2,000-2,500, Feed the Poor would provide the contents and materials to make 10,000 meals which can be sent at any time to areas of the world where starvation, malnutrition, or emergency food is needed. Volunteers would be sought from our club and these community organizations to come together for one afternoon and make the meals. It would be a short but valuable avenue of service for the club.

We will be announcing the date of the networking event once it is settled, and also the status of our participation in a "feed the poor" meal event. Please begin thinking about getting some donations for the event so that our fund raising effort would be successful. Solicit, make a basket, donate something new that you might not need, whatever you can think of. We will announce when to bring them into the club.
