August 24, 2019 Mobile Food Bank

On Saturday August 24^th the Lynn Rotarians and friends assisted in distributing produce and other items to needy Lynn families at the Salvation Army Headquarters.  Over 400 people received some much needed items, such as: Potatoes, Chicken Breasts, milk, bananas, fresh corn, apples, carrots, pears and a few other items.  In the picture below, left to right, are:  Mackie Bastarache, Diane Reilly, Bill Reilly, Ray Bastarache, Lorry Willis, Paul Price, Paula Clancy, Dan Cahill, and Claire Price, Paul’s daughter and Steve Upton.  The other pictures show some of them in action.

 

The Rotarians and friends were a significant part of the volunteer group, since school was not in session there were not any high schools students there.  Also some of the regular adult volunteers were not there.  As a result the Rotarians comprised about one third of the volunteers, we were busy from about 6:30 to 9:00 at which time the last of the food was passed out to the final recipients.  A good time was had by all and seven of the volunteers reconvened at Andy’s Breakfast place on Boston Street, Lynn for some well-deserved nourishments.
