January 23, 2014 Program
"She has so many gifts that make her special: a beautiful spirit, a kind heart, a gentle smile, an appreciative word for everyone.****** transferred into ** School in Sixth Grade. It was a difficult transition because she came in a little behind our class. Facing up to the challenge, she worked every day at school, came for extra help and then worked at home with her cousin. Seventh grade remained a challenge, continued to be filled with extra-help after school and working with family at home. Grades began to rise but ****** did not take this to mean her efforts should be less. This year, ****** is doing extremely well. Her grades have increased drastically. First term she missed Honors by two points! I know she is working hard to bring up this grade because that is who ****** is. She is a worker, a do-er, she does not give up, only accepts the challenge. We are honored to celebrate ****** as Student of the Month, she is a lesson to us all."
"****** has been a student at ** since kindergarten. When ****** came into kindergarten she was an English language learner. Her first language was Spanish. School was not easy for ******. In the first grade she was enrolled in the Support Service Program. For one period a day ****** went to the Support Service Teacher who helped her with her language and her reading. ****** stayed in the program through grade 6. ****** did so well in grade 6 that it was decided that she should stay in the classroom during literature. ****** no longer receives any special support. Throughout grade 7 and into grade 8, ****** has received A's and B's in all of her subjects. She works very hard and is very responsible. ******'s work is always done with great care. Her handwriting (a lost art nowadays) is probably the best in the entire junior high. She creates wonderful essays;she has really found her voice this year."
"It is a pleasure to nominate ****** for the Middle School Recognition Award from the Lynn Rotary Club. ****** has overcome extremely difficult circumstances in his personal life. He was removed from an unstable household this summer and has moved in with his cousins for this school year. Although he comes from a home where English is limited, ****** has still succeeded. He will often stay after school for extra help and always goes the extra mile to ensure that his work is correct. He is a diligent student who maintains A's and B's in all of his classes and completes all of his assignments in a timely fashion and with the utmost care and concern.****** is a polite young man who is a role model at ** School. He is a member of the Math Team and the Science Club and is well-liked and respected by both his classmates and teachers. He is a determined, focused, and mature young man who constantly has a positive outlook and is determined to do well. For these reasons, we are honored that ****** is receiving the recognition that he deserves."
"****** has been recognized by her teachers at *** as an excellent student as well as a giving and gracious young woman. She is one of three children and a lifelong Lynn resident. ****** is one of the most conscientious students I have ever had. Her goal every day is to do the best she can in every subject. Though ****** has excellent grades, school work doesn't always come easy. Every grade that ****** receives, she works tirelessly to achieve. ****** is constantly going back to her teachers after school to ask questions or for a simple quick review. She is always one of the first students to offer a classmate (or teacher) a pencil, pen or any other school supply they may have forgotten that day. She is very aware if another student is struggling and often offers her assistance immediately. ****** has a truly kind heart that is rare to encounter."
"****** is an incredibly hard working student. While she has faced many academic challenges, she always rises to the occasion. In class, she is the first student with her hand up to ask a question or discuss an idea. During independent practice, she always problem solves before seeking assistance. ******' also has a strong character. She is a nice teammate who is always willing to help others. She is the type of student who always does the right thing, even when no one is looking. She clearly embodies our values of excellence, perseverance, enthusiasm, and community. I am incredibly honored and privileged to be presenting this award to ****** on behalf of the Rotary Club and ** School."
"The winner of the "Middle School Recognition Award" for the month of January, 2014 is ******. ****** is a hard-working, polite young lady that gives tremendous effort to her studies and academic work. She is always prepared, does her homework, and studies hard to keep her grades at a high level of A's and B's. She is always willing to help students that struggle in the classroom. She loves to draw in her spare time, and her artwork is done at a professional level and is hung throughout the classrooms of the school. ****** is a superb student and overall person and deserves to be recognized for all of the hard work, effort, and tremendous character that she shows throughout the *** School every day.The teachers and students of Cluster 5 are privileged to have ****** as part of our school. She is a perfect recipient for the Rotary Award and is an intelligent, respectful person who is a pleasure to be around."
