May has been an incredible month for the Five Points Cultural District Rotary, starting with President Graves' keynote address at the District Conference, the chartering of the Interact Club at the Denver Venture School, Project C.U.R.E. and Shots for Tots, and the 4th official Rotary Hour!

May has been an incredible month for the Five Points Cultural District Rotary! On Saturday, May 1st, Presidenty Anthony Graves delivered the keynote address at the District 5450 Conference in Ft. Collins, CO. For his stirring remarks on the future of Rotary he received a standing ovation. Additionally, at the conference the Five Points Cultural District Rotary received the 2010 Scott Metcalf Award recognizing the best newly-intiated club project for the current Rotary year, in honor of their canvassing work for the 2010 Census.

On Wednesday, May 9, the Denver Venture School chartered their first Interact Club with the tireless work and support of two Five Points charter members, Vice President of Youth Programs Renise Walker and DVS staffer Jeff Campbell. Eight students received their pins from District Governor Mike Oldham during the ceremony and President Graves was on hand to congratulate the new Interact Club members.

The Five Points Cultural District Rotary is also focusing their efforts on local and worldwide communities in May. On May 17th, a group of Rotarians met at the Project C.U.R.E. warehouse in Centennial to prepare medical supplies for shipment worldwide. On May 22nd, the Club hosted the first in a series of Shots for Tots clinics. Club members have been collecting new and gently used books and stuffed animals over the past month to be given to every child who receives shots at the clinic. The clinic is at the Denver Fire Station 9 on Brighton Blvd. from 10am - 1pm every 4th Saturday of the month, and the Club has committed to providing 5 volunteers, meals and drinks for all volunteers as well as the books and toys for the children.

Finally, on May 25th, the Club hosted the 4th offical Rotary Hour at Jonesy's Eat Bar. Since Rotary Hour began in the spring, the Club has hosted Rotarians from around the metro-Denver area including Assistant District Governor Steve Sehnert and District Governor Karen Sekich and her Rotarian guests from Peru, along with close to 60 other Rotarians from the Denver metro area. The Club is gratified by the incredible support from the area Rotary Clubs and looks forward to a summer of great service and fellowship!
