Recap: Engineers Without Borders
Posted by Tamara Larson on Jul 12, 2016
On Tuesday, June 28, we heard from Ashley Meeks and Engineers Without Borders in regard to water projects.
Water and sanitation is one of the key areas that Rotary focuses on in serving humanity in our international communities.
There are many challenges presented when working on water projects; the initial construction is one part. There is also sustainability.
How do local communities get parts? How is it maintained? Sustainability is extremely important.
Many times, when the wells stop working, it is simply a small part, such as an o-ring that costs only cents on the dollar, yet a complete rebuild can happen.
Clean water is essential to well being. Let's keep working together to make this happen for those who need it.
Thank you Ashley for taking time out of your busy schedule and presenting to us.
